Cater to the Tumblr community.Tumblr users are very community-oriented. To market to this community, you need to do more than just share relevant posts and use the correct hashtags you need to respect it and become part of it in a way that makes sense for your brand. So, before your posts fall into a Tumblr void, heres what you need to know about the Tumblr communityMost Tumblr users are young. This is good nachrichtensendung if youre look ing to market to young people, because you can reach millennials and Generation Z with ease. Perhaps not surprisingly, this also means that a lot of the content being shared on Tumblr is humorous and sarcastic. Keep this in mind when youre strategizing how to market to your audience. The community is very supportive. Many Tumblr users identify as social outcasts. Tumblr has become a safe place for bloggers to share things they cant share on other networks. They find people they can relate to, and they can remain anonymous if they so choose. The Tumblr community is also a huge proponent of mental health awareness, and its not uncommon to see posts sharing hotlines and inspirational advice go viral on the platform. Many Tumblr users have formed real friendships thanks to the supportive nature of the network.Fandoms are everywhere. While Tumblr itself functions as a huge community, the platform is home to many smaller communities. Many of these are fandoms, which are groups of people wh o share similar interests. These interests can be television shows, movies, comic books, books, video games and more. If your brand is relevant to the interests of a certain fandom, find ways to market to them.Anything goes on Tumblr. From memes to serious news stories, pretty much anything can be shared on Tumblr. Unlike other social networks, Tumblr doesnt censor manythings, so dont be surprised if you have a run-in with some NSFW (not safe for work) adult content while perusing the platform. But dont worry, there are third-party browser extensions that can help you avoid these types of posts. Tumblr Savior, a Google Chrome extension, is a popular one that allows users to blacklist certain tags. Most users tend to tag these posts as NSFW to make blacklisting easier for other bloggers.Influencers are important. As with other social networks, popular Tumblr users get tons of engagement from their followers. If one of these influencers reblogs your content, it could drive a lot of vi sitors to your page and increase interactions with your posts. These are the bloggers you want to keep track of. Watch how they interact with followers and things they share. Even if they dont notice your blog, analyzing their Tumblr use could help you strategize your own.The best way to be successful on Tumblr is to understand the overall community and find your niche and where your brand best fits. But dont act like a brand. Adopt a personality, making sure its relatable and, most importantly, genuine so that the Tumblr community respects you.Additional reporting by Brittney Morgan. Heres Why Women Are ACTUALLY Leaving STEM Careers And Why You Should Care

Heres Why Women Are ACTUALLY Leaving STEM Careers And Why You Should Care Workplace inequity is still impeding womens progress in the workforce. While many may have believed weve overcome the tired myth that biology makes women less-likely to show interest in STEM fields, that battle still isnt over.Manglin Pillay, the CEO of the South African Institution of Civil Engineering, sparked massive outrage when he suggested men have more of an appetite for the work load and extreme performance requirements required of STEM.While Pillay has since apologized for his careless remarks, his words reveal that an insidious misconception still exists That the lack of women working in STEM fields is a problem caused by a lack of appetite, not by harmful attitudes and practices held by employers. However, a recently published studyis looking to put a nail in this women arent interested in STEM coffin once and for all.Researchers surveyed 1,464 women engineers who have left the field to find out why they left and if they left prematurely, or before they wouldve liked. The women attributed their leaving to three key factors. Most significantly, they were working in unfair conditions. Women were being unequally compensated compared to their male counterparts, and were receiving little support to accommodate work-family balance. They also revealed that they were not receiving deserved recognition or opportunities for advancement. At the same time, women reported feeling that they were unable to effectively use theirmath and science skills, often because they were doubted by their superiors or colleagues. These reasons for leaving the field werent caused by a preference for stereotypically creative roles or nurturing roles, as Pillay suggested. Instead, women are leaving STEM because employers fall short of providing women environments where their scienfitic endeavours can flourish. There are various corrections companies can make to right this wrong and benefit themselves overall. But one policy change has been proven to save businesses thousands of dollars by aiding higher-level female employee retention rates.Better maternity leave benefits support work-life balance and keepwomen inSTEM roles. Management consulting company Accenture increased its maternity leave from 8 weeks to 16 weeks, and 40% fewer women left the company within a year. Professional service company KPMG saw similar results when they increased their maternity leave from 8 weeks to 18 weeks. Bettering conditions for women saves tons of money in the long run. For KPMG, paying for an employee to stay at home for an additional 10 weeks is more cost effective than it is to train a new staff member, which costs 78 weeks salary.Another way to retain more women employees is to provide flextime, which Forbes magazine considers to be a non-negotiable circumstance for engineers. By allowing employees to construct their own schedule, companies help them maintain better work-life balance and provide a cons tructive reason for them to stay despite turbulent life changes or shifting priorities that naturally come with age. When companies improve working conditions, they improve morale and increase productivity. But fair and flexible working conditions are especially important in retaining talented female employees. Despite misconceptions, they want those STEM jobs.--Kayla Heisler is an essayist and Pushcart Prize-nominated poet. She is a contributing writer for Color My Bubble. 10 Best Practices for Any Recruiting Project

10 Best Practices for Any Recruiting Project Successful recruiting projects are essential to all growing companies, regardless of size orindustry sector. The ability to successfully and repeatedly hire the right talent for the right role will make a hard task (growing a company) a lot easier and a lot more rewarding for everyone. At Hub Recruiting, we have a solid track record of completing successful recruiting projects for many of the countrys fastest-growing technology companies. Recently, we conducted an annual meeting at which we analyzed all of our recruiting projects from the past year. We were able to come up with a list of best practices that were critical to the success of each project. We hope these ten tactics will help you with your own hiringprocess1. Open, Frequent Communication Between Recruiters and Hiring ManagersThis was our most common sign of a successful project. Open and frequentcommunication made it possible to address issues an d concerns consistently and efficiently. It created a working relationship between recruiters and hiring managers that helped move projects forward.2. Develop a Clear Set of Hiring Requirements for Each RoleThis includes must-have skills, preferred skills, lists of previously interviewed candidates, do leid contact lists, and son. When you have these requirements in place, you can ensure the project runs smoothly and without disconnect between the client and the recruiter.3. Adjust the Team Structure as the Number of Open Roles IncreasesIn the recruiting world, clients are constantly adjusting their roles and needs. Being able to keep up with these changing requirementsmeans your project can sail forward smoothly no matter what.4. Focus on Quality Over QuantityEspecially when a project requires a large talent pool, its important to keep the focus on candidates that meet or exceed your clients expectations. Dont focus on the numbers. It doesnt help anyone if you fill your pipeline wi th leidhing but mediocre candidates no matter how many there are.5. Talk With Candidates Early and OftenDo not rely exclusively onLinkedIn.Instead, exchange phone numbers or emails addresses to maximize communication. If you invest in the candidate, you will have a better understanding of whether or not they are the right fit for the position and whether or not you may be able to place them in a different role later on.6. Schedule Weekly Status Calls/MeetingsThis gives you the opportunity toaddress issues head-on. It also helps you establish the kind of relationship with your client that will strengthen the project overall.7.Make Sure That All Parties Are Equally Invested in the Projects SuccessAlso, be sure to clearly agree on what success actually looks like. If you are not on the same page with your client, you will not be finding the best-fitting candidates for your clients roles.8. Always Share Your Feedback on CandidatesGive detailed and extensive feedback back to the client , especially about how candidates perform during interviews. The hiring criteria can be adjusted and refined throughout the process based on the realities of the candidates in your talent pool.9.Track and Share Candidate PipelineDataThis includes statistics, trends, and unusual characteristics. This level of transparency will keep the project moving forward successfully.10.Invest Time Into Really Understanding the CandidatesThis meanslearning about the candidates goals, decision-making process, life situation, long-term career aspirations, desired compensation levels, and so on.Dont leave these detailsuncovered until later in the process. Get to them early so that you dont end up wasting time on a candidate who only turns out to be a bad fit. While these best practices are largely geared toward third-party recruiters, its important to note that corporate recruiters can also adopt them. Simply approach the company you work for as if it were a client, and youll find that each of these tactics will help you just as much as they have helped us.
